My research and writing has focused on the mechanisms by which the brain controls reproductive behavior, including sexual response in humans. This has been developed in the Departments of Psychobiology and Psychology of the UNED and Rutgers University. I have received awards for teaching at UNED and in scientific and documentary film competitions. In recent years I have turned to communicating scientific knowledge about the brain and behavior to the public via national and international media, most recently via my book, “The Affective Brain” (Editorial Plataforma, Barcelona), which explains how affection can actually change the structure of our brain and personality.
