Mark Allen has worked in conservation science since the mid-1990s, specialising in the freshwater, estuarine and marine environments. During this time he has worked in numerous government, private consulting and academic roles. Dr Allen's primary research interest is the conservation of threatened freshwater fishes with a particular focus on Australia's south-west region. Currently, he is engaged in research on the utility of artificially created aquatic refuges for biodiversity conservation.
