Senior Lecturer of Classics, Victoria University of Wellington

Mark Masterson is a classicist and has lived and taught at Victoria University in New Zealand since 2005. He was a research fellow at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library in 2015. He writes on sexuality and gender. He has published a book on same-sex desire between men in the later Roman Empire, Man to Man: Desire, Homosociality, and Authority in Late-Roman Manhood (Ohio 2014) and was co-editor of Sex in Antiquity: Gender and Sexuality in the Ancient World (Routledge 2015). He is currently writing a book on same-sex desire between men in the Byzantine Empire.
