Mark Pendleton is Lecturer in Japanese Studies at the University of Sheffield (UK). His doctoral research was completed at the University of Melbourne in 2012 on the aftermath of the Tokyo subway gassing and was awarded runner-up in the Asian Studies Association of Australia President’s Prize for the best doctoral thesis on Asia in 2013.
