Postdoctoral research fellow in sociology of law, Lund University

After four years as PhD candidate at the Sociology of Law Department, a year as researcher at Lund University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and six months as visiting PhD candidate at the University of Oxford, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Martin Joormann completed his PhD in sociology of law in 2019. He is the author of articles such as ‘Asylstaffetten – A longitudinal Ethnographic Study of Protest Walks against the Detention of Asylum Seekers in Sweden’ (2018, Justice, Power and Resistance) and recently completed his work on the co-edited book ‘Refugees and the Violence of Welfare Bureaucracies in Northern Europe‘ (2020, Manchester University Press). Moreover, Martin serves as editor and peer reviewer for several international journals. He is currently based at Lund's Sociology of Law Department, conducting research for his VR International Postdoc (2020-2023).
