I am a PhD candidate in History at the University of Edinburgh, where I also received my Honours and Masters degrees. My research examines constitutional politics in the Scottish island groups of Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles between the 1960s and 1990s, with a focus on local government reform, entry into the European Economic Community, Scottish devolution and campaigns for island autonomy. I have previously conducted research into the postwar Liberal Party in the Northern Isles and the Scottish Anti-Apartheid Movement.
