Matt has over 15 years experience working in the area of sexuality, both in education and therapy; specifically in HIV/AIDS, diverse sexualities, and men’s issues. He was a member of the AFAO (Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations) ANET Committee for 4 years – the committee that managed and developed all NAPWA and AFAO educational resources regarding HIV/AIDS in Australia.

He is currently a member of the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) Advisory Committee (2009-2013); a Council member of the Australian Society of Sex Educators, Researchers, and Therapists National (ASSERT National); is a working group member of SiREN - A joint research focused group between the WA Department of Health and the Perth sexual health sector; and is a member of the Advisory Group for the Curtin Ally Program (a training program for Curtin staff & students with the aim of raising awareness and understanding regarding same-sex, gender, and intersexuality issues on campus).
