Matthew Hayes is Professor of Sociology and Canada Research Chair in Global and Transnational Studies. Since 2020, he has been a housing advocate and organizer with the NB Coalition for Tenants Rights, and has published frequently on the affordable housing crisis in regional media and in the NB Media Coop. His book, Gringolandia: Lifestyle Migration under Late Capitalism was published in 2018 with University of Minnesota Press. It explores the experiences and impact of migrants from North America to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cuenca, Ecuador.
