Associate Professor, Director of Te Kotahi Research Institute, University of Waikato

My initial training was as a physiotherapist but after learning to speak Te Reo Māori and working alongside traditional Māori healers I engaged in postgraduate studies around research ethics. I have since worked on research projects at the interface of mātauranga Māori (indigenous knowledge) and science, both in terms of values/ethics and traditional ecological knowledge, across health, environment, and new technologies.
