Assistant Professor of Sociology, Birmingham-Southern College

Dr. Mills is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Birmingham-Southern College. She received her Ph.D from the University of New Hampshire with a concentration in health and illness. Her research and teaching interests include medical sociology, health inequality (especially as it relates to race/ethnicity), and the sociology of mental health and substance use. Her current research focuses on Service Animals, invisible disability, and stigma. Her recent publications appear in "Substance Use and Misuse" and "Rural Sociology."
