Assistant Professor, Regis University

Meghan Sobel (Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication. Dr. Sobel’s research focuses on the role of news media in combatting human rights abuses and humanitarian crises around the world. She has given a TEDx talk about sex trafficking that has been viewed more than 700,000 times and she has published in journals such as Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, Asian Journal of Communication, International Communication Gazette and The Journal of Human Trafficking. Her first book, Sex Trafficking and the Media: Perspectives from Thailand and the United States, was published in 2018. She has professional experience with human rights organizations in Thailand and the U.S. Department of State in Malawi. She has a B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an M.A. from the University of Denver.
