PhD Candidate (Food Science & Nutrition), University of Newcastle

Melanie is a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle, investigating consumer behaviour and perception around non- and lower- alcohol wine. She is affiliated with the University of Newcastle Doctoral Training Centre for Food and Agribusiness.
Melanie graduated with First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Food Science & Human Nutrition in 2015 and was awarded a Faculty of Science medal. She has experience in scientific research, including cancer cell biology for which she has a number of peer-reviewed publications. She has recent experience within the food industry, and is fascinated with what influences the consumer to make the choices they make.
She is a member of the Nutrition Society Australia (NSA) and the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST).
