Melissa Sweet is one of Australia's most experienced health journalists. She has been writing about health and medical issues since the late 1980s, and is the founding editor and publisher of Croakey.org - a social journalism project for health.

Melissa has previously worked for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Bulletin magazine and Australian Associated Press. She has had a long interest in how the media covers health issues and the implications of this for the general public, as well as for health practice and policy. She has written widely about these issues, for both the mainstream press and professional publications.

Melissa is a PhD candidate at the University of Canberra.
