Professor in Work and Organisation Studies, University of Essex

Melissa Tyler is a Professor in Work and Organisation Studies. Her research focuses largely on gender, feminist theory and the body in work and organisational settings; emotion, aesthetics and sexuality in the workplace, and organisational space, place and materiality. She has recently published two single-authored books: 'Soho at Work: Place and Pleasure in Contemporary London' (2020, Cambridge University Press), and 'Judith Butler and Organization Theory' (2019, Routledge). Melissa is currently working on a British Academy/Leverhulme funded project on the impact of COVID on self-employed live performers in the UK. Melissa is a co-director of the Centre for Work, Organisation and Society (CWOS) at the University of Essex.
