Professor of Mechanics, Loughborough University

Memis is Professor of Mechanics at Loughborough University. He dedicated his working life to knowledge generation through engineering research and education of the future engineers. He was Associate Dean for Teaching from 2011-15 for The Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He received Research Informed Teaching Award in 2015. His research interests include modelling, simulation and design for whiplash mitigation. He is Fellow of both IMechE and ASME. He acted as the Leader of the ASME European District. He initiated and developed ASME’s student activities in this district.
Memis was born in Cappadocia in Turkey, received BS in Mechanical Engineering from METU, MSc from UMIST, PhD from Loughborough and DSc from Manchester.
