Michael joined the Department of Political Economy in January 2018. His doctoral research focuses on the substantive representation of ethnic minorities in Britain by ethnic minority Members of Parliament following the 2017 General Election. Michael holds a BSc in Sociology from the University of Surrey and an MSc in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London (UCL).

Michael’s previous research examined the role that the transatlantic slave trade played in shaping the democracies of Ghana and Nigeria.
