Michael Fletcher is a senior lecturer in the Department of Management at Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to joining AUT in 2011, Michael worked as a policy advisor and researcher for a number of government agencies in Wellington. His main areas of research interest are social policy, the welfare system, family policies and child maintenance. Michael holds degrees in English literature and Economics and is currently completing a PhD focusing on the financial consequences of separation for New Zealand parents with dependent children and the Child Support system. He is the New Zealand commentator for the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy.
