Michael started working in the Economics Department at the University of Western Australia in July 2015. After finishing his studies in Memphis (USA) in 2011, Michael has worked in Colombia at a private university for 4 years (the Universidad EAFIT in Medellin).
His main areas of research focus on political economy topics (terrorism, corruption, government spending) and behavioral aspects (e.g., gender differences). Since 2013, Michael has been a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn, Germany. Since 2016, Michael is a Research Affiliate at the Center for Economic Studies in Munich (CESifo).
