Senior Research Fellow, University of Leeds

Michael is a Senior Research Fellow at Leeds University Business School.

He was awarded a PhD from Newcastle University in 2016, where he also obtained an MBA [with distinction] in 2012. In addition, Michael holds an MA from Nottingham University and a BSc from The University of Hull. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Michael has conducted research on a number of topics, all of which broadly seek to understand the mutually constitutive relationship between organisations, society and socio-economic inequalities. Specifically, he has published articles on top executive pay, corporate governance and also, philanthropy & social entrepreneurship. Recently, Michael has been involved in an extensive research project examing the history, role and status of philanthropy in northeast England. He is a founding director of the investment cooperative, InvestAge.
