Michiko Hikida is a doctoral candidate in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin, department of Curriculum and Instruction. She studies language and literacy acquisition. Her research primarily explores the experiences of struggling readers in everyday classroom interactions around books. She also has investigated the language practices of multilingual students. She is a former elementary and special education teacher.
