Mike Pretious lectures in marketing, retailing and consumer studies. Prior to becoming an academic, Mike worked primarily in the retail clothing sector and held buying roles for a number of major companies, including Selfridges, Mothercare and the Burton Group (now Arcadia).
Mike has written academic papers and has published in the trade and popular press on retail and consumer issues. He currently has a particular interest in sustainability and social enterprise.
Mike has substantial consultancy and short-course experience with a variety of clients. Outside his work at QMU, he is a board member with the Edinburgh-based youth homelessness charity Four Square and works with social enterprises in East Lothian, Edinburgh and overseas.
