Miriam Boeri is an Associate Professor of Sociology. Her research focuses on ethnographic studies of drug user populations and alternatives to incarceration. Findings from her studies were reported in numerous conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Her book on women who use methamphetamine describes how addiction intersects with social roles, relationships, and political trends. Her most recent book, HURT: Chronicles of the Drug War Generation, is available November 2017. Boeri recently received a three-year NIH grant to study opioid users in the suburban communities.
