Mitch Larkin qualified for his first Olympic Team in 2012, winning the 200m backstroke in 1:57.90.

At the 2011 National Championships, Larkin won the 200m individual medley and placed second in the 400m individual medley and the 200m backstroke, securing his place in all three events for the World Championships.

Larkin won gold at the 2010 Junior Pan Pacs in the 400m individual medley as well as silver in the 200m individual medley and bronze in the 200m backstroke.
