Visiting Research Scientist, Environmental Futures Research Institute, Griffith University

Monica is the Urban Bird Program Manager at BirdLife Australia - Australia's largest, not-for-profit bird conservation organisation. She has a background in urban ecology, citizen science, environmental education and community-based participatory approaches to conservation. Her current focus is on the development of a Conservation Action Plan for Australia's urban bird communities, which brings together diverse partners to mitigate threats and undertake on-ground action for birds that live where people live. She is also a Visiting Research Scientist at the Environmental Futures Research Institute, Griffith University where she co-supervises students and collaborates on urban wildlife research.

Monica completed her BSc in Zoology (2004) in her native Canada and a PhD in Ecology & Biodiversity (2013) in New Zealand.
