Passed undergraduate subjects with distinction. Academic bursary awards obtained from the University of South Africa (UNISA). Designed, developed and implemented the current South African Revenue Service (SARS) audit methodology (i.e. audit programs). Was a member of the Interest and Penalty Committee; Objections Committee; Technical Committee and Additional Tax Committee at SARS. Chaired the VAT Ruling Committee at SARS. Received the SARS Commissioners Star Award in recognition of significant contribution to the SARS overall revenue target. Trained by the Swedish Tax Authority on “SESAM” which is the audit data interrogation computer software tool utilised by SARS. Presented technical tax training and updates internally at SARS. Written and oral presentations made to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance (SCoF) representing SAICA’s view’s on the annual Tax Law Amendments. Influenced a change to the Fourth Schedule of the Income Tax Act (provisional tax “basic amount”) in the interest of SAICA members and the tax industry at large. Served on the SARS Commissioners Technical Advisory team created to design and develop the current Tax Administration Laws Act. Past editor of SAICA’s Integritax tax journal. Represented the views of SAICA through various media platforms including radio; television; online and print. Represented SAICA on the King Committee, Anti-Intimidation and Ethical Practices Forum (AEPF) Executive Committee, Public Sector Audit Committee Forum (PSACF) Steering Committee; Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) Steering Committee; eXtensible Business Reporting Language (SA) (XBRL (SA)) Board and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Group of Experts: International Standards of Accounting and Reporting. Past employee trustee of the SAICA Pension Fund and Principal Officer of the Fund. Past member of SAICA’s Examinations Committee and team leader for the Tax question.
