Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Cardiff University

I am a researcher working in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry research group at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics.

I am interested in working out what factors help young people have good mental health and what factors can increase risk for mental health problems. For my PhD I used different approaches (psychology, genetic epidemiology, neuroimaging) to look at the link between memory and depression in teenagers and young adults. I also worked on a project looking at changes in child mental health and associated outcomes over time.

I am currently looking at whether it is feasible to collect genetic samples from teenagers in schools and link them to mental health measures. The overall aim of this project to improve understanding of how genes and environment can affect mental wellbeing in young people.
