Senior Research Associate, University of Bristol

I am a researcher working in Population Health Sciences at Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol.

I am interested in working out what factors help young people have good mental health and what factors can increase risk for mental health problems. For my PhD I used different approaches (psychology, genetic epidemiology, neuroimaging) to look at the link between memory and depression in teenagers and young adults. I also worked on a project looking at changes in child mental health and associated outcomes over time.

For my previous work at Cardiff University I looked at whether it was feasible to collect genetic samples from teenagers in schools and link them to mental health measures. The overall aim of this project was to improve understanding of how genes and environment can affect mental wellbeing in young people.

I currently work as a Senior Research Associate (University of Bristol) on a project exploring the relationship between eating disorders and self-harm in young people, including testing whether emotion dysregulation could be a common risk factor.
