Natalie Chapman

Adjunct Senior Lecturer, UNSW Sydney

Natalie has spent 16 years working with researchers in universities and public research agencies, helping them commercialise technologies and growing knowledge based businesses. Most recently she has co-developed and delivered industry engagement training for researchers at UTS, ANU,and UTas.

Her work as General Manager of Commercialisation at Smart Services CRC resulted in two spin-off businesses from the University of Sydney and University of Wollongong. As Leader of Business Development and Marketing at ANSTO, she provided strategic advice to the Executive and managed the commercialisation of the organisation's IP portfolio.

Natalie is the co-founder and Managing Director of technology commercialisation company gemaker and also heads up corporate communications, with responsibilities for attracting investment, government relations and marketing communications at ASX listed Alkane Resources, where she has helped the company transform from a junior explorer to a leading mining company seeking a billion dollar investment.

Natalie is a Board member of Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia Ltd on the Advisory Committee for UNSW School of Chemistry and on the Advisory Board at UOW for the Business Faculty.

Natalie has a Bachelor of Science with honours (Chemistry) from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Commerce (Marketing) and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the University of Wollongong.

Honours

She won a 2013 Stevie Award for Female Entrepreneur of the Year in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, and was a NSW Finalist in the 2017 Telstra Businesswomen's Awards. Her company gemaker was awarded the 2017 NSW Telstra Microbusiness of the year award.
