Natasha Borges Sugiyama is Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A specialist on social policy, local governance, and the politics of poverty relief in Brazil. Her latest research examines how local democratic practices and social protection further citizenship, human development, and gendered inclusion.
