Natasha Borges Sugiyama is Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her latest research examines how local democratic practices and social protection further citizenship, human development, and gendered inclusion.
