Professor of Clinical Toxicology, The University of Edinburgh

Professor Nick Bateman recently is professor of Clinical Toxicology at the University of Edinburgh and was formerly Consultant Physician at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (he retired from clinical practice in March 2013). He currently chairs the Poisons Board for the Home Office. Nick has also been a Member of the Pharmacovigilance Expert Advisory Group of the Commission on Human Medicines for the MHRA, and the Veterinary Products Committee.

Formerly he was the Director of National Poisons Information Service Edinburgh (the Scottish Poisons Information Bureau) until 2012, and previously Medical Director of the Regional Drug and Therapeutics Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne where he established the UK Teratology Information Service.
