PhD Researcher - Safeguarding Young People, University of East London

Nicholas has extensive experience as front line social worker, as a senior leader and as a researcher in various multi-agency, child-safeguarding settings. His previous roles have included co-founding Listen Up, a research and consultancy organisation established to amplify lesser heard voices in child protection research, practice and policy. Nicholas was also the development lead for a research based and co-designed child exploitation service, piloted in two Greater Manchester authorities. This service received a positive independent evaluation from the DfE and it is now being rolled out across the region as part of Greater Manchester’s response to complex safeguarding.

Currently Nicholas is in the write up phase of his PhD studies. His research focuses social work decision making and safeguarding adolescents from child exploitation
