I am an accredited physiologist with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). I completed my Masters in Physiology & Nutrition at the University of Hertfordshire, and my PhD in Human Applied Physiology at Brunel University, London. I have worked with Olympic performance programmes in London and the South East, and now reside at Sheffield Hallam University where I lead on Applied Physiology and engage in research and scholarly work. I am passionate about science communication, and a regular contributor to Peak Performance and Cycling Weekly Magazine, among others. In my spare time I train for ultra-endurance sport, and have completed Ironman triathlon (Frankfurt, Germany) and the Marathon Des Sables footrace (Sahara Desert).
