Nickola Overall is Professor of Psychology at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Nickola’s research focuses on identifying how to overcome barriers to healthy and happy relationships. Nickola examines how couples and families can support each other and resolve conflict to enhance health and wellbeing. She also investigates factors that damage relationships, such as biased perceptions, poor emotion regulation, attachment insecurity, power, and sexist attitudes. Nickola's goal is to identify how these common processes can be mitigated to build healthier families. Nickola has published over 150 journal articles, chapters, and books, and her research has been recognized by several awards and international fellowships.
