Nicky Kilpatrick

Associate Professor and Paediatric Dentist, Royal Children's Hospital

Associate Professor Nicky Kilpatrick graduated from Birmingham University in the United Kingdom in 1985. Following two years as a resident in oral surgery she specialised in paediatric dentistry first at the Eastman Dental Hospital and then at Guy's Hospital, London. She completed her PhD in 1993 on the durability of restorative materials in children at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. In 1999 she moved from the position of Senior Lecturer and Head of the Discipline of Paediatric Dentistry at University of Sydney to take up her current position as Director of Dentistry at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. She has worked in most branches of dentistry including the NHS hospital and general practice, community dental service, private specialist practice and academia. She has published and lectured widely. In 2006, she obtained her Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons special stream Fellowship in paediatric dentistry.
