My research relates to early childhood and primary school curriculum and pedagogies. I am interested in the ways in which teachers teach and how children learn. My focus has been on the use of new technologies for multimodal learning in school and the funds of knowledge that children bring to school as evidence of themselves as capable learners who are knowledgeable and concerned about everyday happenings in their lifeworlds. I have worked in Australia, the USA, UK and Hong Kong. My existing body of work in education with children from 4-12 years of age, has disrupted a narrow approach to schooling.
