Nik Thompson received his BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science and Internet Computing in 2002 and 2006 respectively. His PhD examined the role of affective human-computer interaction and he has successfully developed and implemented real-time adaptive intelligent systems that are able to adapt to the emotional state of the user to provide a natural interaction environment.

He currently lectures at Curtin University in the discipline of Information Systems teaching cybersecurity at undergraduate and postgraduate level. His research has been published internationally in journals including Computers and Security, Behaviour and Information Technology, and the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law. His research interests include human-computer interaction and information security.
