Dr Nils Niederstrasser is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth. His research focuses on pain and its relationship with injury, rehabilitation, and frailty in a variety of contexts and populations. Furthermore, Dr Niederstrasser is studying the interplay between pain, physical activity, and psychological aspects, with the aim of finding ways of reducing pain and suffering.

His work on factors that predispose individuals to become frail in later life and on the relationship between physical activity and pain have been discussed in the media as well as the university's SOLVE magazine and podcast.
