Researcher on "Crossing the Mediterranean Sea by Boat" project, University of Warwick

I joined the University of Warwick in November 2015 to work on the ESRC project “Crossing the Mediterranean Sea by Boat: Mapping and Documenting Migratory Journeys and Experiences”, led by Dr Vicki Squire. In addition, I am the Research Coordinator for all eight projects funded by ESRC urgency grants to carry out research on the Mediterranean "migration crisis". Meanwhile, I am in the final stages of completing my PhD at Edinburgh University under the supervision of Prof Christina Boswell and Dr Andrew Neal.

My research interests revolve around analyses of and reflections on migration governance and the effects of border policies and practices. Within my doctoral work, I am exploring the relationship and interactions between humanitarianism, human rights, and security in the EU border regime, in particular in relation to the work of the EU border management agency Frontex.
