Oleksandr Shepotylo

Senior Lecturer in Economics, Aston University

I work in the field of international economics. My strength is in applying most advanced econometrics to practical policy related issues: regional integration strategies, pros and cons of free trade agreements, effects of deregulation on productivity, export, and FDI.

Currently my research is focused on
a) Impact of trade barriers (tariffs and non-tariff measures) on productivity of firms and quality of their outputs.
b) Impact of policy uncertainty and political violence on economic activities. I focus on cases of Ukraine and UK
c) Estimation of the ad valorem equivalents of non-tariff barriers.

In the past, I have worked on projects related to WTO accession of Russia and Kazakhstan, Ukrainian deep FTA with EU, trade facilitation measures in Armenia. My research has been supported by the Global Development Network, Renaissance Foundation, Research Council of Norway, World Bank, USAID.

Specialties: econometrics, international trade, spatial economics
