Director of Ukraine Democracy Initiative, co-hosted by University of Sydney and University of Technology Sydney, University of Technology Sydney

Dr Olga Oleinikova is a Director of Ukraine Democracy Initiative (UDI), co-hosted by University of Technology Sydney and University of Sydney. She is also a Lecturer at the School of Communications at the University of Technology Sydney and an Honorary Research fellow in the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Sydney, from where she earned her PhD. In 2016 she founded the Ukraine Democracy Initiative (UDI), a unique research platform that examines the Ukrainian and East European political, social and migration history, and its turbulent politics. In 2018 Dr Oleinikova was awarded Forbes 30 Under 30 Award and the CHASS Australia Prize for Future Leaders. She has held Research Fellowships at Oxford University’s European Studies Centre (2018-19) and the WZB Berlin Social Science Research Centre (2015). She is the author of a number of peer-reviewed articles on European politics, society, migration and diaspora, and democratic transition in Ukraine. She is regularly called to offer expert opinion on the events unfolding in Ukraine and Europe, writing analytical pieces for The Conversation, ABC News, SBS Australia, KyivPost, and TheGlobalist.
