Oritsegbubemi Oyowe

Lecturer of Philosophy, University of the Western Cape

Oritsegbubemi Oyowe (PhD, KwaZulu-Natal) is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy. He taught philosophy previously at the University of KwaZulu-Natal before joining UWC in 2015.
His primary research interest is at the point of intersection between metaphysics and value theory specifically in the social and political implications of personhood. Some of his publications explore the potential of distinctively sub-Saharan African ideas of personhood in grounding modern liberal values of autonomy and rights.
He currently teaches introductory philosophy, African philosophy, philosophy of mind and political philosophy.
