Osman Ouattara is a development economist. His current research focuses on the macroeconomic effect of climate change/natural disasters.
Osman has been a Lecturer in Development Economics at the Global Development Institute-University of Manchester-since 2014. Before this he was senior lecturer in Economics at Swansea University Business School. He completed his PHD in Economics at the University of Manchester and then worked as a Research/Teaching fellow.

Recently, Osman has worked mainly on quantifying the macroeconomic effects of natural disasters and climate change. He examined the fiscal implications of hurricanes in the Caribbean countries which led to several academic publications. He is currently working on the ramification of climate change for monetary policy /central banks and other macroeconomic outcomes.
