Professor in Clinical Paediatric Oncology, University of Birmingham

Pamela Kearns is a Professor inClinica Paediatric Oncology in the School of Cancer Sciences and is an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

In 2012, she became the Director of the Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit, having previously been the Deputy Clinical Director with responsibility for the Children’s Cancer Trials Team who are the designated lead for the UK’s National Portfolio of clinical trials for paediatric cancer and leukaemia.

Her research is focused on the development of new therapies for refractory childhood acute leukaemias, extending from pre-clinical laboratory based studies through to early phase clinical trials.

She is involved in several internatioanl organisations dedicated to improving treatments for children with cancer and leukaemia including being on the Executive Boards of the European Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP-E) and Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer (ITCC) and is the Vice-Chair of the SIOP-E's European Clinical Research Council
