Senior Lecturer in International Relations, University of Portsmouth

Dr Patricia Shamai is a Secior Lecturer at Portsmouth University, Her research specializes in nuclear, chemical and biological proliferation and security issues. She has published on these subjects and was shortlisted in 2016 for the Taylor and Francis Bernard Brodie prize for Contemporary Security Policy article 'Name and Shame: Unravelling the Stigmatisation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.'

Patricia has presented to a wide range of audiences in the UK and abroad on these subjects. Patricia is a member of a number of groups encouraging dialogue between academia and the policy community. Recently, she has been working to support the development of a UK based Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance (DAAA)

Patricia has recently completed research on stigma and cyber security and is involved in a research project exploring knowledge exchange between government decisionmakers and academia in the area of deterrence.
