Assistant Professor of Exercise and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Durham University

Dr. Jachyra is an Assistant Professor at Durham University, UK, and an Affiliate Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. Patrick’s research examines how to promote and support the physical activity, and mental health of individuals diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disabilities, with a particular focus on autism. This research often is co-produced with autistic people, those who care for them, community organizations and policy makers. The goal of this research is to support the well-being, participation and inclusion of individuals diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disabilities in society.

To advance the research, Patrick takes an interdisciplinary approach drawing on perspectives from sport and exercise science, rehabilitation science, psychology, sociology, and bioethics.
