Paul Hughes

Paul Hughes was until recently Professor of Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University and director of the International Centre for Brewing and Distilling. He is currently visiting professor at the Katholiek Universiteit of Leuven, specialising in malting, brewing and distilling.

Coming from industry, my research efforts over the past six years have focused on the specific strategic issues of product quality, safety and integrity. Additionally, I have developed a strong interest in innovation management. My research focus reflects these interests, as well as my roots in organic chemistry.

Of paramount importance to me is to develop research activities that will, if successful, add value to the industry and, with this in mind I would welcome feedback, comments and suggestions for the development of research to generate potential new value-added opportunities.
