After taking an initial interest in observational biological oceanography, I developed an interest in global biogeochemical cycles and their role in the climate system.
My research focuses on the mechanisms that control ocean biogeochemical cycles, particularly involving the interactions between plankton and their physical environment over long timescales.
My hope is to better understand how biological processes control the climate, so that we can make more informed predictions of the climate trajectory in the coming centuries and millenia.
