Pedro Monaville is a historian of modern Africa. His research focuses on the Democratic Republic of Congo, and his interests include the history of decolonization, political imagination, youth movements, higher education, and state violence, as well as the study of memory work, popular culture and postcolonial history writing. His first book, "Students of the World: Global 1968 and Decolonization in the Congo," is coming out with Duke University Press in July 2022.
