Coordinator: Initiative for Creative African Narratives (iCAN) & Lecturer: Academic Literacy, University of the Free State

After having worked in journalism for a decade (among other positions as the Community & Africa Editor of News24), I got the opportunity to lecture at the University of the Free State. Here I teach Academic Literacy and work in the Centre for Teaching and Learning, which gave me the platform to establish the Initiative for Creative African Narratives (iCAN).

I am a Mellon funded scholar, alumnus of the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as of the US State Department's SUSI programme (University of Louisville, Kentucky; 2016 class).

My PhD is in Creative Writing and I have published two books. My focus areas of research include Academic Literacy, Decolonisation and Academic Writing.
