Peter Corkeron is a marine ecologist and conservation biologist. His PhD, on the behavior and ecology of Indo-Pacific bottlenose and Australian humpback dolphins in southeast Queensland, was the first PhD on living cetaceans awarded to an Australian. He then worked on whales, dolphins, seals, and sirenians in various places around the world. He headed NOAA’s large whale research program for the northeastern US from 2011 to 2019, then led the New England Aquarium's right whale research program through 2022.
