I joined the Economics Department at Middlebury in the fall of 1995, shortly after completing my Ph.D. at Yale, and am now the Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics there. In 2017/8, I served as the Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair of Economics in Helsinki, Finland, and now hold a position as Visiting Professor at Aalto University there, and am affiliated with the Helsinki Graduate School of Economics.
I am married to Carolyn Craven, a development economist and award-winning children's book author.
